On 25 June 2025, Myanmar Innovative Life Sciences (MILS), in collaboration with CESVI, successfully conducted a Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) Knowledge Sharing Activity at the MILS Technical Center in Aung Pan, Southern Shan State. The event convened local farmers and agricultural practitioners to exchange knowledge and strengthen technical capacity in climate-resilient agriculture.
Climate change has increasingly disrupted local farming systems, leading to crop losses and reduced productivity. To address these challenges, the training introduced participants to practical CSA approaches that enhance resilience, promote sustainable land management, and reduce vulnerability to climate-related risks.
The training sessions, facilitated by technical experts from MILS and CESVI, covered a range of key topics, including:
Principles of soil health and soil conservation
Sustainable and climate-resilient farming techniques
Reduction of chemical fertilizer and pesticide use through nature-based practices
Rehabilitation methods for flood-affected soils
Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
Application of natural pest-control alternatives
Participants were encouraged to engage actively by raising questions, sharing field experiences, and discussing local agricultural constraints. One farmer expressed, “I had not previously focused on soil health. After this training, I plan to adopt these techniques next season to improve my farm’s performance.”
MILS remains committed to supporting rural communities by expanding access to practical knowledge, strengthening local capacity, and promoting sustainable solutions across Myanmar’s food and agricultural systems. Through continued collaboration with partners, MILS aims to advance efforts that improve livelihoods and contribute to climate-resilient development.
